Teamworks Pacific are proud to be a part of the process leading to the New Zealand Police and Land Transport New Zealand being selected as the two finalists for the State Services Commission Award for Excellence in People Capability in 2007/2008. Teamworks Pacific developed and presented the Leadership Frameworks for both Land Transport New Zealand and the New Zealand Police.
The People Capability Award recognises public sector workplaces and people development programmes, that are attractive to high performers who are committed to service and the achievement of results.
Land Transport New Zealand was selected for their “Fostering
Leaders Strategy.” The New Zealand Police were chosen for their
“Development and Implementation of the New Zealand Police
Leadership and Management Development Framework.”
The New Zealand Police won the State Services Commission Award for Excellence in People Capability. Their development framework is designed to challenge organisational behaviour at all levels of police, from the executive to the frontline.
Judges commented that "with the constant political and media limelight that shines upon the Police, this initiative is a real and practical approach by NZ Police to positively influence the behaviours of police staff. The Framework, through changing behaviours, fits the business context ensuring public trust and confidence in the leadership of all levels of NZ Police for NZ citizens."
The judges were looking for an innovative organisational development intervention that will:
- Make a strong contribution to supporting the transformation of the State services to world class;
- Lead to sustained improvements in performance, while building organisational capability;
- Contribute to the achievement of the Employer of Choice Development Goal;
- Present an aspirational exemplar of organisational development for the public sector.
